My instructor code of conduct....

I've been thinking a lot about this industry recently. I see time and time again people having negative experiences of this fitness industry, with personal trainers, with class instructors, using language that s

hames certain body types, dis-empowers people, and puts people off finding a good relationship with exercise. So I had a little jot down of what you can expect from me if you come to my class or a one to one session with me, I hope it helps.

1) I will never make an assumption about you or your health based on your body type - actually scrap that - I will never make ANY assumptions about you full stop.

2) I will create the safest space I can for you to feel comfortable, confident and happy in our sessions.

3) I will never recommend or advise you on your food choices, but I can refer you to a qualified nutritionist should you want that kind of advice. I will not promote diets, food replacements or supplements.

4) I believe in health at every size and “set point theory” in relation to body weight. I will never suggest a target weight for you, but I will wholeheartedly encourage you to respect your self fully no matter what your size.

5) I will never shame you, and I will support, encourage, and be kind throughout our sessions together.

6) I approach health in a holistic way, incorporating mind, body and soul. I respect that everyone’s idea or goal of overall “health” is different and each of those are valid.

I am trying every day to be better, more accepting, more diverse, and more understanding as an instructor. I’m not perfect and I don’t know everything. If you like what you have read so far - message me and let’s see how I can help x
